Speaking with Alpha News, Alexander Dudchak, a leading researcher at the Institute of CIS countries and political scientist, commented on the phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“We can say that the sides are trying to respect boundaries and diplomacy in communication with each other. Russia is always open to dialogue and sincerely wishes to restore lasting peace in the region. This is unequivocal and cannot be doubted. And Pashinyan makes his statements in accordance with his position and office. He wants to continue to be the prime minister and to continue Armenia’s drift towards the West. Russia and Armenia need to meet.

And Pashinyan will talk about it, that yes, it is necessary to meet, after all, a huge number of Armenians live and work in Russia, and Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Integration Association. It is also clear that Pashanyan cannot ignore the opinion of many of his citizens, they do not need any problems with Russia. The West needs it, and Pashanyan often plays along with the West. Of course, it would be nice if parties continued mutually beneficial work in brotherly relations. It’s a pretty much normal position,” Dudchak said.
