Doesn’t Bordyuzha read Armenian media and know that “Pashinyan is a Kremlin project”?

Sometimes it seems that in the perception of the Armenian society, the political class, experts, and, first of all, the authorities, Armenia lives in a vacuum. And since Armenia lives in a vacuum in their perception, it is possible to make statements and actions and not think about their consequences. Here we are not even talking about the statement of 2019, when Pashinyan said in Stepanakert that Artsakh is Armenia, thereby destroying the negotiation process on Karabakh. It is also not about criticism of Maria Zakharova or propaganda that “for 30 years Armenians were forced to love what did not belong to them (i.e., Karabakh),” and the subtext was that “Russia forced them to do it.”

It is about a “more recent statement” by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan: “Armenia, which is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), has not received real support from this alliance.”

Now we will not talk about the fact that back in April of this year, Pashinyan admitted that in 2021 the CSTO expressed its readiness to help Armenia, but by the political decision of the “revolutionary leader” Armenia did not receive the necessary assistance. “According to their logic, without military action, the CSTO (in 2021) could not do anything. And this is despite the fact that the de jure obligations of the organization say exactly the opposite. The CSTO wanted to come to Armenia not as an ally but as a peacemaker, thereby putting Armenia outside its system of security guarantees. This would have led to the emergence of a puppet government in Armenia,” Pashinyan said in the spring. He admitted that there was a chance to introduce CSTO peacekeepers (that is, to get from the organization what it could and was obliged to give), but he refused.

Instead, let’s focus on the fact that Mirzoyan’s statements received a prompt response.

Former CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha said that he considers Armenia’s suspension of CSTO membership a huge mistake and also touched upon the topic of the organization’s assistance to Armenia.

It is safe to say that the indirect “shootout” between Bordyuzha and Mirzoyan is a very eloquent conclusion of 2024 in the context of Armenian-Russian relations. The relationship is not just in crisis but is frankly deteriorating. This could be a problem for Mirzoyan personally or Pashinyan personally, but they officially represent Armenia, and the deterioration of political contacts between them and Russia threatens the security of Armenia and the citizens of the country.

And all this, by the way, is happening as a number of Armenian “experts” and politicians continue to say that “Pashinyan is a Kremlin project.” Apparently, Bordyuzha does not read the Armenian press and “analytics” and therefore is not privy to “the secrets of the conspiracy.”

Once again, it should be noted that those making such statements consider their primary target audience not the population of Armenia, not the citizens of Armenia, who should shape the government with their voice, but Western embassies, first of all, the embassies of the United States and the EU. Those statements are made to show the US and EU ambassadors that “there is no point in continuing to rely on Pashinyan,” since he is an “agent of the Kremlin,” and new partners should be found in the domestic political field…

Think about it…
