Armenian citizens who became victims of bank fraud staged a protest outside the Central Bank of Armenia. One of the protesters, Gayane Khachatryan, told Alpha News that a loan was issued in her name in IDBank and she, as well as other protesters, has nothing to do with the transaction. The incident occurred on March 3, 2025. There was a loan of 550,000 drams at 24% interest for a six-month term.
“I had a payment with IDBank and I decided to make this payment using Idram, but I was unable to access the app. I tried several times but nothing worked, then two messages came in English with the IDBank logo—one containing a five-digit code, the other a four-digit code. We entered these codes, but the app still wouldn’t open. We contacted Idram, told them what happened and they promised to check the situation and call us back. A day passed, but the problem was not fixed. In the evening, we called again and were told that we had been hacked twice and a loan had been issued in my name.
It is noteworthy that a week ago I applied to IDBank for a loan of 100,000 drams and was rejected. But a week later a loan of 550,000 drams was issued without my knowledge,” Khachatryan said.
A criminal case has been opened by the Armenian Investigative Committee in connection with this matter. According to Khachatryan, the loan remains unfrozen.
