The ongoing cooling of Armenian-Russian relations and sharp shifts in foreign policy have placed Armenia’s agricultural sector and exporters before a serious economic crisis. Surveys conducted in the Armavir region show that farmers have found themselves on the brink of bankruptcy and desperation, unable to sell their produce in Russia.

Residents sharply criticize the authorities’ economic and foreign policy, noting that talk of “entering the EU” or a “Turkish market” is nothing but a myth with no connection to reality.

“Forget about exporting our produce to Azerbaijan or Turkey, it’s impossible. On the contrary, cheap goods will be imported from there, and what will our farmers and villagers do? Stand in the heat at the market with their goods? And how do the authorities help farmers? Not at all,” one resident said.

According to Armavir residents, Nikol Pashinyan complies with everything the neighboring hostile states demand.

“Whatever Azerbaijan and Turkey dictate, this man and his team carry out, and he tries to force us to follow along too. But we won’t do that. We have no path to peace with Turkey and Azerbaijan, they are our age-old enemies. And I’m already explaining this to my three-year-old daughter,” another resident said.
