Zareh Sinanyan showed an anti-national policy from the very first day of his tenure, Edik Kotanjyan, the representative of the Belgian ARF-D Committee, told Alpha News.

“On November 11, the Committee of Armenians in Belgium organized a meeting with the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs and senior officials of Armenian organizations operating in Belgium. Our organization, together with its sister organizations, refused to meet with the Diaspora Commissioner. We considered it inappropriate to participate in such a formal meeting since this person showed anti-national policies from the very first day of his tenure.

Due to his duty over the years, he was obliged to do everything possible to strengthen the connection between the homeland and the Diaspora, but the Commissioner seems to be doing the opposite. He is doing everything to split the Diaspora, nullify the work of traditional organizations done over decades, and belittle their role. This means that the policy of the Diaspora Commissioner is unacceptable for us,” Kotanjyan said.

According to Kotanjyan, relations between Armenia and the Diaspora will not be at a high level in the near future since the current government of Armenia has taken the opposite direction.

“We have been doing and will continue to do daily work for decades in the name of Armenia and Artsakh. It would be very good if relations between Armenia and the Diaspora were at a high level, but, in our opinion, the policy pursued by these authorities has gone in the opposite direction. The Artsakh issue is not closed to us. Artsakh is a territory belonging to Armenians and part of our motherland. We will continue to fight for the rights of Artsakh and the Armenians of Artsakh until there is a pro-Armenian solution to this issue,” Kotanjyan concluded.
