Margarit Sargsyan: All students and professors should speak up

Speaking with Alpha News, professor of the Yerevan State Conservatory and pianist Margarit Sargsyan expressed concern about talks over closing the university.

“The Komitas State Conservatory is the only large music university in our country. The administration of the conservatory is very concerned about rumors regarding the closing of the university, and the academic council sent a letter stating that this is unacceptable. Since we live in a very unpredictable country and never know what we may face tomorrow, musicians like me today also consider it right to side with the conservatory’s administration. In general, this process of merging universities is very unsuccessful and difficult. I think it’s very bad when we are all silent and don’t speak up,” Sargsyan emphasized.

She also called on students and professors at all universities to speak up for their rights.
