Bundestag member proposes to impose personal sanctions against those responsible for the Artsakh blockade

The chair of the German Bundestag Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid Renata Alt has proposed to impose personal sanctions against those responsible for the blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh causes serious concern, and I am closely following the developments in the region,” Alt said in response to a request from the Haypress news agency.

She has noted that she is holding discussions with decision makers and non-governmental organizations to improve the situation, assuring that she will continue to make efforts to protect the human rights of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to Alt, the EU can exert effective pressure on Azerbaijan only with the help of centralized force. She considered it necessary for the European Council and the European Commission to take initiatives to “impose personal sanctions against the political architects of the blockade.”
