Some countries are trying to undermine the legitimate authority, traditional values, and situation in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Russian President Vladimir Putin said today in a video message to the participants of the meeting of the CIS Security Council Secretaries.
“Global instability affects Eurasia as well. Moreover, the actions of certain countries are directly aimed at undermining the legitimate authority, social stability, and traditional values in the CIS countries and at disrupting our traditionally close trade, cooperation, and cultural ties,” he said.
Putin pointed out that such common threats as terrorism and organized crime, drug trafficking and illegal migration, radicalism and extremism, as well as economic, information, technological, and biological security risks, remain relevant.
“All this requires not only a coordinated collective response but also large-scale preventive measures. It is vital, among other things, to make utmost use of the forecast, information, and analytical capacities of the security councils for an in-depth, comprehensive examination of the situation in the CIS and the world in general to clearly determine the priorities and timely adjust the relevant strategic planning documents”, he noted.
