Iran feels quite confident because it knows that it can stop Israeli strikes with its own and Russian air defense systems, Dr. Arthur Khachikian told Alpha News.

“Donald Trump fully supports Israel. We saw Israel’s retaliatory strike against Iran, which was quite restrained. According to some sources, there were warnings from the US and some eastern countries that they did not want war, but Israel said it would launch several strikes. But Iran also feels quite confident because it is sure it will be able to stop those strikes with its own and Russian air defense systems. The danger is that there may be strikes again. In this case, Iran will change its position and start creating nuclear weapons. If there is such a big war, Iran will in no way be able to ensure Armenia’s security or prevent the opening of the Syunik or Zangezur corridor,” Khachikian said.

When asked whether Azerbaijan would intervene in the Iran-Israel conflict, Khachikian stressed that Aliyev would not want to be involved in this war.

“I believe that Aliyev is a smart diplomat, and he will be careful in case of an Iranian-Israeli conflict. He does not want to be involved in this war because Iran, with the help of its proxy groups, may destabilize the situation in Azerbaijan, and after that, the Azerbaijanis will feel the consequences for years and decades. I think that Azerbaijan will continue to adhere to the Turkish line and will not get involved in a war just like that,” Khachikian concluded.
